Classroom teaching responsibilities
- Help the homeroom teacher in the classroom by performing assigned duties;
- Help in developing, organizing, and putting into practice the daily program and is generally responsible for classroom supervision when the homeroom teacher is absent;
- Assist with light cleaning duties;
- Take over teaching the class as a whole on an occasional basis;
- Complete supportive work (such as: organizing paperwork, photocopying, and preparing and producing bulletin boards, classroom displays, and materials used in instruction or record-keeping, materials inventory, and technical support for classroom computers).
- Conduct music workshops for pupils
Other responsibilities
- Tutoring or assisting individual students;
- Supervising children at lunch;
- Helping with children that have special needs;
- Escorting children who need to leave the classroom for any reason;
- Ensuring that students meet the correct bus;
- Revise lesson material with students individually or in small groups;
- Ensure the classroom environment is safe and clean;
- Oversee students during non-classroom times including in-between classes, during lunch, bus duties and on field excursions;
- Collaborate with the homeroom teacher to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions;
- Document student progress and communicate with parents to keep them informed; this includes learning stories and Toddle posts;
- Help the homeroom teacher to create lesson plans.
Team responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with colleagues on projects, planning, assessment development and improvement programs;
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the appropriate curricula and current teaching trends, digital tools and developments.
School-wide responsibilities
- Foster and promote a sense of pride and positive community spirit among staff and students;
- Active participation in co-curricular activities including events, open days and forums, which may include occasional evening and weekend work;
- Undertake cover lessons as directed;
- Attendance at meetings both during and outside of school hours including as required by the school.
Qualifications
This is a full-time position with the following requirements:
- Daily work shift from 08.30 AM to 16.30 PM but with flexibility to work on select weekends (eg: Open-days);
- The ideal candidate has already held a similar role for 3 years of professional experience;
- Mother-tongue/native level of English;
- At least B1 level of Italian;
- Collaborative team builder;
- Excellent interpersonal skills / communication skills along with a sense of humor;
- Provides excellent service with courtesy and professionalism;
- Immaculate criminal record.
